“Tenacity and Resilience: The Legacy of Our Story” – An International Women’s Day Event

On Wednesday 25th March, women from across Walsall came together to celebrate International Women’s Day at our “Tenacity and Resilience: The Legacy of Our Story” event, where they reflected upon and explored the themes of Resilience, Tenacity, Legacy and “Give to Gain”.

The event created a welcoming and inclusive environment that brought together women from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and experiences, and celebrated the achievements, contributions and strengths of women.

We were honoured to have three guest speakers at the event, who all shared powerful personal stories highlighting resilience, perseverance, leadership and community impact. It was also our pleasure to have students from Emmanuel School Walsall participate in an engaging Q&A session, encouraging them to recognise their own potential and build confidence.

The event provided a safe, inclusive space for open discussions around safety, empowerment, and available support services.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our International Women’s Day event and give special thanks to our three guest speakers, Mayor of Walsall, Carla Roque and Shenny Bryce.

——————–

“Tenacity and Resilience: The Legacy of Our Story” is an intergenerational storytelling and empowerment event celebrating the achievements, contributions and strength of women within the Walsall Community.

Women from diverse backgrounds will share personal stories of perseverance, leadership, migration journeys, overcoming adversity, community service, and professional achievement.

These stories will be told to students from Emmanuel School to inspire confidence, ambition and pride in community heritage.

The event will include:
– Guest Speakers – short personal storytelling sessions
– A facilitated Q&A session with the guest speakers
– A reflective brainstorming activity where students write about key lessons learned about resilience
– A “Legacy Wall” where students record what strength and tenacity mean to them, and role models and inspirational women are identified
– Collection of feedback from participants

The event will highlight how women’s lived experiences form a powerful legacy that continues to shape and strengthen future generations.

The #GiveToGain theme will be embedded by encouraging women to “give” their stories and wisdom to empower the next generation.

Everyone Welcome!
