Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration- Saturday 4th June 2022
We would like to thank everyone who attended our Community Fun Day on Saturday 4th June.
A packed programme of events took place on the day to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with a Free Community Lunch (which saw more than 400 people enjoying a variety of Caribbean and Asian cuisine), Steel Drum music playing the national anthem and music of the Caribbean, screens showing Her Majesty the Queen’s visits to the Commonwealth and other parts of the country, a Royal Quiz (which saw the winner walk away with a bottle of Stones Ginger Wine), and Professor Martin Levermore (a deputy lieutenant of Her Majesty the Queen’s Representative) giving a speech about inclusive society and how the West Indian community has been part of it. There was also Face Painting, a Bouncy Castle and Scrimmage football.
It was great to see the turnout from the community, with more than 400 people of different cultures and generations sharing their appreciation of the work that her Majesty has done over the last 70 years.
